Tashan Movie Review!!!!

Tashan

Tashan is a movie that you’ll either love or hate (most probably hate), but the movie still is very good VFM. This is because of two major reasons:

1) No multiplexes showing the movie.. I watched it in Shreyas cinema for 60 Rs. Stall (Total kharcha Rs 87…3 Rs bus ticket chiragnagar-shreyas, movie ticket, cold drink- 15 Rs, samosa – 6 Rs, return ticket 3 Rs)

2) There are parts in the movie that everyone will enjoy – Akshay Kumar’s Performance throughout the movie, Anil Kapoor’s Deewar spoof (‘Lots happy you must be today… Lots happy’), songs, locations, etc… So here goes

The Story-

The story revolves around kareena kapoor (pooja), who, unfortunately does not put in a revolve-worthy performance. There’s nothing big to talk about Kareena’s role in the movie, not even the bikini scene …. However, I’d like to add here that Kareena looks quite nice in most of the movie and I’d say yes to her if she proposed to me (on the condition that she cuts back on the skin show)…

She phasaaoes Saif (jimmy Cliff), an English teacher who is hired to teach anil kapoor (Bhaiyyaji) a UP ka don based in Mumbai. Jimmmy pooja ke jaale me phas jaata hai and agrees to steal that mahine ka ‘collection’ from bhaiyyaji. Obviously, saif is left alone to take the blame while she runs away…

Enter Bacchan Pandey (AK) in one of the best entry’s I’ve seen in quite a while.. Bacchan Pandey idolizes bhaiyyaji and is a recovery agent (the kind who motivates you to pay your bills before time, every time, till the end of time).. He along with saif are tasked by bhaiyyaji to get back the money and start wondering where pooja might be.. At that time we see the afore-mentioned bikini scene (where there was nothing big to talk about (in more ways than one)) and a song on the beaches of some far off country where the sea water is blue and the beaches are white….

THEN, jimmy remembers that pooja wants to do visarjan of her papa’s asthiyaan in ganga at Haridwaar (really) and off they go… pooja is caught and beyond this point, the movie is all style and no story.. Lekin what style it is!!!

Rest Of The Story -

Rest of the story includes plot points such as pooja’s seduction of bacchan pandey, bacchan ke bachpan ka pyaar, pooja ke pita ke khoon ka badla, jet ski’s, cycle pe talwar fight, flame throwers, electric shocks and so on…..

Other Stuff –

The fight scenes in the movie except for the last fight are very very cool.. Akshay Kumar has outdone himself in the movie and steals the show both in acting and action… And the ‘Bacchan Pandey’ theme music during the fight scenes ABSOLUTELY ROCKKKKKSSSS!!!!!!! Udhar hi picture ka 30 Rs (or 50% of ticket price, whichever is higher) vasool hai !! Anil Kapoor does well, has some damn cool scenes in the movie, kareena is eye candy, and saif gets an all-female call center of his own at the end of the movie (this concept alone is worth another 10 Rs. vasool)…The movie’s music is good, costumes and locations are very nice, the movie lives up to its name. Did I mention the Bacchan Pandey theme music? It’s a winner!!

Conclusions –

Overall, I liked the movie, and recommend that everyone watch it if its at a theatre near your home for 2 ½ hrs. of tp (movie is 2 ¾ hrs long but last 15 minutes are not that good)… So go watch it today (or whenever)

The best 5 minutes of today!! :)

Tulsi Virani meets Jack Sparrow!!!

Note:text in brackets are author comments!!

It willl only happen once so don’t miss it, some of you may have heard abt it, some of you may not, but even those who have heard about it will probably have no idea of what I’m talking about so I’ll just say it without futher delay!!! Tulsi is gonna die today…… its true.. According to a Balaji exec.. "in an attempt to escape from the asylum where she has been sent by her family, Tulsi boards a truck that is driven by a drunkard. The truck falls into a valley while negotiating a turn. Tulsi dies in the subsequent blast."

Wow!!! Of course later we will come to know that tulsi is alive, has lost her memory for sometime, regained her memory, gained a powerful/rich/influential/semi-evil ally (Captain Jack Sparrow!!!… don’t worry, its all explained below), and comes back to take revenge on all the bad guys for sending her to the asylum in the first place, not realizing that the bad guys merely manipulated the criminally stupid virani family members to send her to the madhouse so actually her own family members are to blame damn that is a big and confusing line!!!!

At least we know that tulsi:the sequel wont be smriti irani cos of her feud with ekta kapoor… Probably it will be the miss India 2007, who after failing to win whatever beauty pageant it is (cos the cosmetic companies now have enough miss worlds/universes/asias from india to last their promotion campaigns for the next 200 years!!!)….decides to try her hand at acting!!! How will they explain the new tulsi to be a 22 yr old hottie, you ask? Read on, I say!!!

Its very simple, tulsi falls into the valley, where there is a river…the river flows into the sea… while she is floating in the sea, having lost her memory, she meets captain Jack Sparrow, who is looking for the fountain of youth, they find it and voila!! (+chaila!!!!) (aila kavita jhaali!!) instant new look young, hot, tulsi, with her memory back, who is now free to wear miniskirts (I know its irrelevant, but hey, positive thinking goin on here!!!) , flirt with captain jack but eventually choose mihir over him, and wreak her vengeance on the enemies of virani’s!!!!

This story line is set to continue for the next 317 episodes, and features the fall from grace of BA, who gets jealous of hottie tulsi and teams up with captain Barbarossa to find the fountain of youth herself!!!

The story line ahead of these development is still in the works… will keep you updated as it goes on!!!

If I had my life to live over (not me re... Don Herold)

When someone seriously writes about being less serious in life, its time stand up and pay attention.

This is one amazing passage!!! I was just browsing around when I found this.. its written by a poet called Don Herold and appeared in the 1953 edition of readers digest.. (them old ppl sure were cool!!) The dude who wrote this was born in 1889 so he had one pair in the kabar and other on a kele ka chilka… and he was writing abt how he’d like to live his life if he got a second chance.. but we are still on our first attempt and lots of time left for us (hopefully). Maybe we can learn something here..

Of course, you can't unfry an egg, but there is no law against thinking about it.

If I had my life to live over, I would try to make more mistakes. I would relax. I would be sillier than I have been this trip. I know of very few things that I would take seriously. I would be less hygienic. I would go more places. I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers. I would eat more ice cream and less bran.

I would have more actual troubles and fewer imaginary troubles. You see, I have been one of those fellows who live prudently and sanely, hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I have had my moments. But if I had it to do over again, I would have more of them - a lot more. I never go anywhere without a thermometer, a gargle, a raincoat and a parachute. If I had it to do over, I would travel lighter.

It may be too late to unteach an old dog old tricks, but perhaps a word from the unwise may be of benefit to a coming generation. It may help them to fall into some of the pitfalls I have avoided.

If I had my life to live over, I would pay less attention to people who teach tension. In a world of specialization we naturally have a superabundance of individuals who cry at us to be serious about their individual specialty. They tell us we must learn Latin or History; otherwise we will be disgraced and ruined and flunked and failed. After a dozen or so of these protagonists have worked on a young mind, they are apt to leave it in hard knots for life. I wish they had sold me Latin and History as a lark.

I would seek out more teachers who inspire relaxation and fun. I had a few of them, fortunately, and I figure it was they who kept me from going entirely to the dogs. From them I learned how to gather what few scraggly daisies I have gathered along life's cindery pathway.

If I had my life to live over, I would start barefooted a little earlier in the spring and stay that way a little later in the fall. I would play hooky more. I would shoot more paper wads at my teachers. I would have more dogs. I would keep later hours. I'd have more sweethearts. I would fish more. I would go to more circuses. I would go to more dances. I would ride on more merry-go-rounds. I would be carefree as long as I could, or at least until I got some care- instead of having my cares in advance.

More errors are made solemnly than in fun. The rubs of family life come in moments of intense seriousness rather that in moments of light-heartedness. If nations - to magnify my point - declared international carnivals instead of international war, how much better that would be!

G.K. Chesterton once said, "A characteristic of the great saints is their power of levity. Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly. One 'settles down' into a sort of selfish seriousness; but one has to rise to a gay self-forgetfulness. A man falls into a 'brown study'; he reaches up at a blue sky."

In a world in which practically everybody else seems to be consecrated to the gravity of the situation, I would rise to glorify the levity of the situation. For I agree with Will Durant that "gaiety is wiser than wisdom."

I doubt, however, that I'll do much damage with my creed. The opposition is too strong. There are too many serious people trying to get everybody else to be too darned serious.

MugS!!!

They're handy, they come in different shapes and sizes and have so many uses, but are so underappreciated.... most of us dont give them a second thought, but after reading this post, you might just start taking care of your mug just that little bit more!!!

So what is a mug?? Wikipedia sez: A mug is a sturdily built type of ceramic cup often used for hot beverages, such as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

So from that we have the first use of mugs.. to serve beverages....and what an important use it is.... i know u'll say, whats the big deal, we can use cups as well, even glasses!! But let me give u a scenario here... Ur just chilling out, relaxing at 5pm saturday evening, with a cup of coffee in ur hand.... 2 minutes, couple of sips and the cup is empty!!! WTF!!!! how am i supposed to relax when i've gtg and refill my cup every 2 minutes?? Now if u have a mug there... just keep sipping and you just wont realize how time flies by!! See the point here?

>>>

Other advantages of mugs:

you are just sipping hot tea/coffee from your mug and someone attacks you, thow the tea/coffee in his face!!! but what if this doesnt stop the person? Simple, throw the big, heavy, mug at his head and just watch him go down... cups and glasses just dont compare to mugs when it comes to stopping power (vases, on the other hand, can work just as well)

Got 3 toothbrushes+2 toothpastes+no place to keep them... Get a mug!!!!

For those of you so inclined, you can have beer in a mug, or even something stronger... ever heard of drinking beer from a cup, anyone?? Not to mention, cups are for sissies, or for times when mugs arent available!!!

You can use them for holding pens, clips, staplers, etc. in your office.. try putting all this stuff in a cup and watch it topple over, plus it looks so silly compared to mug...(not to mention the added advantage of extra storage space!!!) and with all the cool varieties and designs out there, i'm sure you can find one that fits ur personality pefectly!!!

For those of you who still arent convinced, heres the ultimate argument in favor of mugs... the debate ender.... the winning run...

MUGS ARE JUST SO MUCH COOLER!!!!!

Now I’m off to get a mug of coffee. What abt you??

Cheers!!!

Q1 Result 2007!!!

Foreword!!!

Well, its that time of the year when every1’s releasing their quarterly reports. So I think, why not I too??... Maybe I’ll start a trend that’ll catch on and be a start of a new revolution!!! God knows we could do with quarterly reports on the activities of politicians and cricket teams… Some accountability here could do wonders for performance, rite? So lets get on with the report…

Letter to stake holders:

Am in majet. Life is good. Forecast is positive… hope to be in majet next quarter and thereafter as well… Read further for specifics.

Index

To short for page numbers. The report is divided into three main sections… personal, professional, and social with various subsections. At the end of the report there’s the Happening in Q1 2007 and Not Happening in 2007 section, Don’t miss it!!!!

Personal:

Physical Health:
Good, no troubles in the last quarter. Need to improve physical fitness, will get down to it some day. Planning an IPO to raise funds for talwalkars.

Mental health:
No traumatic events in the past quarter. Was okay other than a few sad days, which I suppose is normal… If u aint ever sad, you wont realize the value of happiness (Wah!!!)

Love health (???, cant think of a better title)
Position vacant, still looking…
Intelligent (important), Funny (important), positive (important), super beautiful (not THAT important but would be given preference in case of tie in first three characteristics, in other words - tie breaker #1), rich (tie breaker #2) girls can apply… Hurry up, kahi ye mauka aapke haathon se nikal na jaaye!!!!

Major events:
Couple of Job changes.. (more details in professional section)… Got a new car… Dadi fell down, arm in plaster… She’s well now, although there’s still some time for the cast to come off

Professional:

Quit integrascreen following 2 mths of Notice period.. Still miss the ppl there, not so much the place, although I still have some very very good memories there!!!

Joined a new co. for a verry short time n left… Ppl were good, work was okay, pay was good…just got n offer I couldn’t pass up!!! Which brings me to.. Patni.. yes folks, am now with patni computers… business Research Analyst!! Work is damn cool, am workin on some great stuff… work pressure is okay… company is rocking too (not hard rock though…more U2/bryan Adams than Metallica/Iron maiden.. but hey, we still rock!!!)

Overall, this quarter was very good time for me professionally, I see myself staying here at patni for a long time.. :)

Social life:

Didn’t make many new friends this quarter, hard to meet existing standard you see… Been meeting Stairrorists/Integrites almost every week this quarter and almost every time is fun… There was a lull in stairrorist activities for some time but things have started happening again… High Points of the quarter would be Anand Resort/Elephanta Caves with Integra Folk n Bheja Fry/Np meets with the stairs….

Most of the folk I know seem to have had good quarters themselves (some literally have good quarters or even ‘khamba’s)… One or two ppl been sulkin around in depression… which I’ve been told is a ‘normal phase’ for almost every1 sometimes…maybe its true, but shutting ppl off for weeks, (almost 4-5 months in case of one moronic but other wise very smart person, who btw, is more kameena than me…..Sorry for drifting off here.. back to the point) doesn’t make sense, especially since me Being a person who sees even an empty glass as partially filled with water due to the water vapor content in air (slight exaggeration here)… In case you didn’t get the connection, I was saying how positive I am and others should be too….

Rest is cool…

Happening in Q1 2007…
  • Bheja fry (Esp Vinay pathak)
  • Anand Resort
  • World of Warcraft
  • Parle Milano Cookies
  • Australia (Don’t really like them but have to give credit where its due…)

NOT Happening in Q1 2007

  • Indian cricket team.. + World cup 2007 (pakaau, one sided, too long)
  • Global warming
  • ‘Patni’ Jokes Really ppl, theyre not that funny!!
  • Depression (will cover my thoughts on the subject in a later blog… watch out 4 it)
  • Red, the Dark side (I know it was release a lot earler but I watched it only recently)

Friendship Day e-mail :)

Hey ppl,

As you all know..or you may all not know, or some of you may know, or some of you might not have known but now know (I fall in this group), or some of you may not know at all even now (although u will if u reach till the end of the sentence), August 6th is Reportedly called ‘Friendship Day’

Apparently, this is kept on a Sunday (who keeps it is unknown, but I have a theory which is listed below)….Anyways what I wanted to say was that “Do we need a special day to celebrate friendship??” No naa…So here’s me thanking you 4 being my friend today, tomorrow, and every day for the next 365 days at the end of which, I will send this, or a similar mail to those of you are alive at that time, or to those of you whom I still consider to be my friends at that time (I’m a very forgiving person so all of u who are alive at the end of the stipulated period will probably come in this category)

It should be apparent to u by now, that right now, I don’t have any work (although I do), So some more food for thought?

what does “happy friendship day” mean? (I think this is a conspiracy by a cartel of Greeting card members to increase their sales… ) Your thoughts, views would be appreciated (possibly)….Other burning questions of the day..

why did the chicken cross the road…

Do we have any evidence that it was on the other side of the road earlier?? So how do we know that it actually crossed the road??

Have we factored subways/overhead bridges in out contemplation on this subject??

Regards,

Very cool e-mail

This is the mail..its really good..made me think (a lot!) which is rare for me...(Thank you Vishal for forwarding this mail to me :) )

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
